Post by: Wasim on April 02, 2023, 02:50:11 PM
Thanks in advance.

What is the best (safest) way to install the clutch pedal and that whopping big spring???? :)

Cheers, Wasim

Remove and install the clutch pedal bloody carefully.  The spring has a lot of stored energy, and you can injure yourself easily.  If you have welding gloves, wear them.

Pedal Removal:

You have to take the master cylinder pushrod out: split pin out, then push the clevis pin out, then swing the pushrod down and away to clear.  It may be easier to undo the master cylinder bolts and move the master cylinder forwards.

Remove the "A" clip and washers holding the pedal onto the pivot shaft.

Now you'll need the gloves.  Carefully move the pedal to the left until it just clears the stop rubber.  Hold the pedal pad firmly and allow the pedal to swing up until the spring tension is released.

Remove the clutch pedal and over-centre spring.

Pedal installation: Start the pedal on the shaft.  Hook the spring in place on the pedal set under the dash.  Pick the forward end of the spring up with the notch in the pedal.  Work the pedal gently along the shaft until you reach the bracket and stop rubber on the pedal set.  Hold onto the pedal pad, push it down until the pedal just clears the stop rubber.  Work the pedal "home".  Install the washers and "A" clip.  Install master cylinder pushrod.  Adjust pedal free travel.

Good luck.
