Title: Grey motor rockers
Post by: Eaton_FE on February 04, 2023, 03:15:00 PM

Adjusting the rockers today on the grey motor in my FE
Had it running for a while with rocker covers off to check that the valves were about right and weren't making to much noise or to little noise.

I noticed that there wasn't any oil coming out of the rocker arms on the front half of the rockers at all.
So far I've taken all of the rockers off and checked for blockages and found no blockages.

Any ideas what this might be?
Is it just plain old low oil pressure and the engine is getting close to reconditioning time.

Les

Seems to be the same at up to 1000 RPM

Start the engine with the rocker cover off and block the drain hole of the hex fitting with your finger.  Then get the engine going at a fast idle.  You should see oil come out of all the rockers in a minute or so.

If your rocker arm bushes are worn, put a self-tapping screw in the drain hole of the hex fitting between the rocker shafts.
