Title: Pix magazine Post by: Hewart on September 12, 2003, 10:37:48 AM Just a nice shot from the Pix magazine dated January 17, 1959. 2 FCs and 1 FE, possibly all of them Standards...? I will stand corrected by the experts, but I think they look like Standards....
(http://photo.starblvd.net/hewart/3-2-3.jpg) Cheers Les.... Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: customFC on September 12, 2003, 11:25:26 AM Hey Les.
Whatever you do, don't "HALT".......those pictures coming. Great shot. Let's see more. Regards Alex Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: normd on September 12, 2003, 02:30:22 PM Yea Les , Don't "HALT" , and by the look of the pic , looks like that guy didn't either :o
Keep 'em coming Norm Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: slim on September 12, 2003, 08:09:11 PM Was that HALT sign a common thing , because I personally have never seen a HALT seen before.
Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: normd on September 13, 2003, 07:36:01 AM Hey Slim
Mrs says she remembers HALT signs , Black & Yellow she thinks , also remembers "trams" in Concord , so HALT signs must be pretty OLD :-X (Hell I'm being BEATEN) Cheers Norm (Please send bandages heheh :P) Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: Hewart on September 16, 2003, 07:03:26 AM Your right Normd, he didn't stop... the article is about dangerous driving etc.... Here's another one from the same yarn, also with some old FCs (not sure if they are trying to say FE and FC drivers are bad drivers or not... ;)) but in this shot - obviously dummied up for the shoot - these two girls are crossing the road, one FC stopped for 'em, and one didn't... LOOK OUT!!!
(http://photo.starblvd.net/hewart/3-3-1.jpg) Unfortunately the pages met right in the middle of the pic.... :-/ cheers Les.. Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: normd on September 16, 2003, 01:41:46 PM Hey Les
Don't worry about "page joins" , it's just great to see these old adverts Thanks for posting them Norm PS. WE all know FE/FC drivers are GOOD drivers ;D Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: FEHOLDEN on September 19, 2003, 10:10:13 AM GIDDAY ALL
LOOKING AT THE 2ND PHOTO I WOULD RECKON THAT THE " BAD " DRIVER WAS WEARING A FELT HAT. JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT THEY DON'T ONLY DRIVE VOLVOS AFTER ALL. ;D ;D ;D DENIS Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: HARKO on September 19, 2003, 10:19:47 AM Looks like hes running the same brakes I have too ,I dont see any smoke although he doesnt seem to be randomly changing lanes either
Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: Hewart on June 17, 2005, 06:13:28 AM Just adding a few more pics from the article....
This one has an FC and 2 FEs, one of which is a taxi... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/Hewart/oldclips/traffic2.jpg) ... and this one has an FC Special, FC Standard, and 2 FC taxis.... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/Hewart/oldclips/traffic1.jpg) These days no-one would walk out in front of a lineup like this one without looking.... we'd all be standing on the path watching on in awe...!! ;) Cheers Les... Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: HAD 708 on June 17, 2005, 08:07:39 AM Les
Fantastic pics especially the last one it really brings home the fact that their were really so many FE FC models around in that era. Thanks for sharing keep them coming you have been a bit quite of late! Brett Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: peterwmh on June 18, 2005, 01:58:49 AM Funny thing, they nearly always drove with their elbow on the window ledge! My Mum did her driving test in a FC wagon, she remembers having to put on the indicator and use her arm to signal, let off the handbrake and turn out of a parking spot on a hill, she ran out of hands!! She passed the test still!!
Peter Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: Hewart on June 18, 2005, 02:24:13 AM Hey Peter... I think it's the law when you drive a Holden, that you have to put an arm on the window ledge!! Must be why she passed....
Sorry it's been quite Brett...! As I was saying to Zulu at the meeting the other night, it's getting harder and harder to find new old pics that no-one's seen before...!! Got a couple more to add here in a sec... just got to scan 'em in. ;) Hopefully the old-photo supplies will never dry up completely....! Cheers Les... PS: I like that last one the best too... Awesome to see so many in the one shot! Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: zulu on June 18, 2005, 03:56:16 AM Hey Les, is that Marilyn in that last shot ???
Title: Re: Pix magazine Post by: Hewart on June 18, 2005, 04:05:06 AM Don't know Gary.... she was before my time ;) ;D Maybe her in disguise..??
Here's a couple more pics... obviously "set up" and for an ad type of article for "Goodyear Tubeless tyres"... all about safety etc.... PIX magazine, March 2, 1957 (page 33) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/Hewart/oldclips/tyres1.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/Hewart/oldclips/tyres2.jpg) :o :o ::) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/Hewart/oldclips/savepic.jpg) Cheers Les...
