I've just rebuilt my 132 and am having trouble finding a suitable temperature sending switch. Through lots of research on the net and trips to Bursons, Repco and other suppliers I've only managed to find a switch that is set to operate at 125 C. My engine is in an FX and according to the shop manual should be running a 4 lb radiator cap. This proved too hard so it now has a 7 lb cap. The workshop manual states that the temperature warning light should come on at 217 F (about 104 C). While I understand that with a higher pressure cap my system can now run a little hotter... 125 C seems into the engine damage range. Can anybody tell me where to purchase a sender that is around the 104 C rating please? A little higher or lower is fine. Thanks for your help and time, Ben. Ken Title: Re: temperature sending switch Post by: Harv on November 07, 2021, 06:59:59 PM The Tridon TTS033 switch works on grey motors (½-14NPT thread). I run these senders. The TTS033 is set a little higher (125ºC) than the original early Holden switches (103ºC). It is the only temperature sender that Tridon makes with a ½-14NPT thread.
If you want to get closer to the original 103ºC setting using a Tridon sender, then you will need to adapt the thread. The TTS513 and TTS516 units are set at 100ºC, and have M10x1.0 and M14x1.5 threads respectively. The TTS521 is set at 107ºC, and has M16x1.5 thread. I have yet to find a non-Tridon sender in a suitable thread and temperature range. Cheers, Harv |
