Title: headlight problem Post by: robbzfc58 on September 07, 2003, 11:58:07 AM iv'e just got an fb on the road. tonight the lights went out.switched them off for a moment ,then back on &they seemed ok.then lost them again.they seemed to go out when the revs climbed.it has generator &original headlights. i thought i would start with the regulator,or should i go to the switch first.i do expect a few teething probs,the ute was last regoed in 1970

Check the wires where they go into the dipswitch on the floor, they often get damaged and rusty and don't connect properly, causing intermittent loss of lights, I have had this problem on an FC, FB, HR and HT over the years and in every case it was the dipswitch which was at fault Cheers Jock Title: Re: headlight problem Post by: robbzfc58 on September 07, 2003, 12:18:49 PM thanks jock.wouldn't have thought of that till i'd done every thing else.i'llcheck it first thing tomorrow & let you know.

There is also a thermal circuit breaker (a set of points) on the back of the headlight switch. Sometimes these just need a clean to solve the problem. I'd also clean and adjust the points in the regulator box. This is explained in detail in the Holden FE/FC workshop manual P/N m32590 Sections 12B and12E or bring it over and i'll check it out. ;D ;D ;D Regards ACE 8) Title: Re: headlight problem Post by: robbzfc58 on September 20, 2003, 11:24:35 AM just picked up the ute from pb after 2 weeks...still not finished. i had a quick look at the lights...the problem seems to be the contacts on the switch.
