Title: Door lock cylinder retainer issue Post by: Laszlo on May 10, 2021, 08:57:46 AM After painting my Fe I trying to put back the new door lock. Something just not add up.
The original retainer just too short if you want to put through the side slit of the door. What I do wrong ? (If I use the boot lock retainer, that one is long enough) I presume if I buy a new one from Rarespares that will be the same size than my old one. They all look very similar, but are different lengths. I found this out the hard way when I tried to fit and FB/EK lock retainer into a HR... the HR ones are longer.

Today I've got the chevy retainers from the US. I paid Aus$ 76.31 for 2 door lock and one boot lock retainer with postage. They are brand new and made in USA not a Chinese shit. But it's not that surprising that the Chevrolet ones are the right size, of any you've looked at. I recall reading somewhere once that Holden were very (and justifiably) proud of the 95%+ Australian manufactured content in their cars of that era, and that the fully imported parts included things like locks, ignition barrels and so on. You certainly see a lot of familiar looking interior parts on a 54 Chev (and not just the locally assembled ones!)
