Title: steering wheel removal
Post by: fcee on February 17, 2021, 10:28:22 AM
Was a puller ever available to remove fc steering wheels to avoid the brute strength method ,or maybe a modern one to do the job .cheers  Steve. ;)

Yes there was.  The puller had two L-shaped legs that went in through the oval holes in the steering wheel hub.  You turn them a quarter turn to engage behind the hub, and then pull the steering wheel off.

Grinding most of the head off hex-head bolts works, sort-of, but damages the steering wheel.  It's best to weld more material onto the bolt head so the bottom of the "L" only just fits through the oval slots.
