The oil feeder that fits between the 2 rocker shafts has a small hole and a large hole. The manual does not show which way it should go on. Does the large hole face towards the front of the engine?

Also l am not getting any oil feed to one of the rockers. Could you please recommend the best way the remove the pedestals so that l can clean everything out? Thank you.

Rusty stains on the valve cap or pushrod of the affected rockers?  Most likely No. 1 cylinder, exhaust?

The large hole in the oil fitting faces forwards.  There's a relief hole in one of the faces of the hexagon - it faces downwards.

The pedestals are a good tight press-fit on the shafts - assuming you have the later type of rocker gear with the long bolts.  Release the hairpin clips on each end, slide the spring and rocker off each end.  Clamp the pedestal in a vice with jaw guards.  Drive the rocker shaft out through the pedestal with a brass drift of the same diameter as the shaft.  A slightly more butcherous approach is to use a socket extension, but done carefully to avoid mushrooming the end of the shaft, it's OK.  There's no need to remove the centre pedestal.

A test-tube brush and kerosene are good for de-sludging the shafts.

You'll need to reface the rockers before re-assembly, or you'll chew bits off the tips of the valve stems.  If you're patient, an oil-stone.  Or a bench grinder if you have a steady hand.  "De-pimple" the adjuster balls with a file or grinder while you're at it.

Check the clearance of the rockers on the shafts before re-assembly.  The rocker bushes will probably be worn.

When it comes time to reassemble the rocker gear, put the pedestals in a 150-degree oven.  They'll be much easier to fit to the shafts when hot.

After you restart the engine, put your finger over the oil relief hole at the bottom of the hex fitting.  At a fast idle, you should see oil flow from the top of the rockers within a couple of minutes.  If your rockers are loose on the shafts, it's OK to put a self-tapping screw in the relief hole of the oil fitting.
