Title: Rear Camshaft seal in block
Post by: Wookie 66 on August 03, 2020, 07:39:38 AM
Hi all
I have removed the camshaft seal from the rear of the block when replacing the welsh plugs and I don’t think I was suppose to

This seal I’m guessing is not part of the welsh plug kit is it ?
Non of the kit seem fit
Any assistances would be appreciated
Cheers

Trevor,

The camshaft welch plug is shorter than a regular one.  Last time I rebuilt a grey motor the engine shop machined a welch plug down to suit.  If you can get access to a lathe, it shouldn't be too hard. (Or a belt linisher?)

Measure the bore diameter to the nearest 1/32" to give the size of the plug you need.

Thanks Rob

The welsh plug kit I got I used the bigger ones that fitted the correct holes
The rest are to small
From what your saying I’ll have source anther larger one and linish it to fit or get one made

Cheers

1 3/8" is the camshaft plug diameter. Depth is as per the rest of the welch plugs.
