I am after a good used rear Venetian with nice patina on it, but not a rusty one. I’m in the Penrith area and collect anywhere in the Sydney metro, south coast or north coast areas. I’ll check em out. How will I find them? The one I had on my FB was awesome, covered in crud and mild surface rust blemishes. Mr Sheen made it look unreal, but still kept its age. I don’t really want to muck around with this cars time capsule originality, but it pains me to drive it, or park it out in the sun. Just worried about the rear seat area. I had a look at their blinds, and I’m not a fan of the shape. If you check out some of their pics, they seem to drop or droop then the shape changes again. The FB or NASCO part was straight all the way across. I have a 69 Shovel nose Corona I am just waking up after 25 years in a shed, and I wanted one to protect the mint condition seats in it as well. But same deal, looks odd in the pics. Hi Rob. I bought one from them direct & it's a quality item. Apart from an old Venetian I’m hunting for, the only other thing the old girl needs is a choke butterfly shaft. The old chap I bought the car from said many years ago the choke butterfly still worked, but the idle up linkages never worked. It’s starts ok with no choke, but I have to keep playing with the throttle for a few minutes before she idles ok. I had a look, and the idle up was frozen, but I freed it up in 10 minutes, but the choke shaft doesn’t work the idle up. I guess the inside of it is stripped as one end works, but the other doesn’t. It’s been a long time since I played with one of these. Title: Re: FC rear Venetian wanted. Post by: Errol62 on June 29, 2020, 08:23:52 PM Sounds like maybe the shaft spring has failed. It is designed so you can pull out the choke cable without your foot on the accelerator pedal. When the choke is closed and pedal is depressed the spring will lift the fast idle cam. The cam can’t lift with the idle stop screw bearing on it. I’ve got a carb on the bench at the moment so I’ll go have a look.

If the butterfly works but the fast idle crank doesn’t then either the cotter end or female part of the crank may be stripped. Refer photos 3 and 4. Easy repair I would have thought if so, but I can send you the shaft out of this one if you need, as the throttle body is broken and carb has already been cannibalised for other parts. Post by: Errol62 on June 30, 2020, 08:12:25 AM Forcing the choke out at the dash could have stripped it I suppose but one would have to be quite violent with it, or I suppose over the years, particularly with multiple short trips.
Just don't drop the screws down the carb throat when removing the butterfly of course. With the butterfly closed and a magnetized screw driver should be ok. Will do, thank you for this. What are the details off the carby you need? Is there a model number on it? Clay, I have found a bloke who has a few old Carbies, he is happy to assist when he returns from his travels. This is unusual for me, there isn’t one part of a car I’m not familiar with, well that’s what I thought lol I have put hundreds of kits through these carbies over my 45 years working on cars, but none of them ever had an issue, well except for the odd warped base, or needle and seat. I guess it just goes to show how robust these very simple, but extremely efficient carbies are. Gents, Thank you again for your advice on all of this. PS My FC sat around in a mates local workshop for a few days while getting a pink slip, wheel alignment and tyres. He said the interest the green FC generated was amazing lol. Number will be stamped, not cast, on the top or side of float bowl, outside of course. Can be elisive.
