Title: Hub caps Post by: DJ on March 04, 2019, 09:11:38 PM These two hubcaps belong to Vern. They are the same size & shape, both came off Holden rims.
Any ideas on what the one on the left is? It has no markings. (https://i.imgur.com/hgGvfxnl.jpg) Title: Re: Hub caps Post by: ACE on March 04, 2019, 09:25:36 PM FB Holden ;)

The FB I drove in the early 70s blew smoke & had no hub caps, but my interests were different then. Title: Re: Hub caps Post by: my8thholden on March 06, 2019, 07:54:25 AM No lion on your hub cap ,would that be " lioness " or ' lionless '

AFAIK those 'H' badges were sold a part of an FB/EK dress up package, with one meant to fit on each rear guard. Sometime early in the piece somebody found that they also fitted in the centre of the rather plain looking FB hubcap. The NASCO installation instructions for them (740698) refers to them as Hubcap emblems. Some scans (methinks Accelerator) show them as Hubcap Medallions. I have seen them used on the rear quarter of FB as part of aftermarket accessory flash kits (https://i.postimg.cc/47FJwnSD/20190307-220808.jpg) ($2) (https://i.postimg.cc/tZ6rvMS9/20190307-220856.jpg) ($2) Title: Re: Hub caps Post by: Dr_Terry on March 08, 2019, 08:01:16 AM Not sure that they were intended for the guards. Cheers, Harv I just checked some old literature Harv & it appears you are correct. That was GM-H's intention. However I was around when theses cars were near new & I reckon that I've seen more fitted to rear guards (& other panels) than actually fitted to hubcaps. Dr Terry |
