I'm very interested, but don't don't know anything about you prior run(s).  Can you point in the correct direct or supply some details? (based of the orginals? fit OK/Good/perfect? etc)

Hi Al,

The repros are directly molded from the orginal metal duct.

They will fit up exactly as originals provided an insulating piece of foam is used on the lower face (I can supply this - originals used a fibre pad).

Feedback received suggest mounting methods such as velcro tape or using metal speaker clips on the duct with success.  I like both ideas.

The vents on the fb are 40mm wider and get attached at the back of the vent.
The fc ones could be adapted to fit.
Have loaded a couple of photos showing both under the heading "My Cars"

Spinner, will a 60 class Garrett engine fit under the bonnet of an FE?

Yair, one would with a bit of work.  I think that the firewall needs to be recessed a tad.  Even so, if you use bored out versions like those in the picture, the car won't have the grunt of a bored Canadian Block FE.

Apologies for late reply, I attended a bike rally at Innamincka (on the Copper Creek).

Headed out via Condobolin, Louth, Mutawunji NP, Tibooburra, Cameron Corner, up the Bore track to Innamincka, returned via Thargaminda, Hungerford, Dubbo..

Only saw one old Holden.. an EK ute at Hungerford.

.. ok vents.  

yes am starting to tool up once again now my bike stuff is relatively complete for time being.

Back in one piece yep, alot of guys broke ankles on the way up after falling in the sand, and had to be flown out by the RFDS (who do a fantastic job too).

i was lucky after being spat off the bike thru deep sand, only to have copped a fractured rib.

highly recommended trip

Ive been playing around with different colours too,

black and white (gelcoat finish) but also silver to mimic the original metal finish for you lot with a keen eye for restorations.

Just as some insight into the process so u dont think ive been slacking off :)
the vents are made in 2 parts, upper and lower, the moulds are gel coated, laminated, trimmed, glued then painted.

Each of these steps takes a day, since I do this after hours.. yes I do have a day job.

keep in mind also I usually wait to do at least 10 sets of vents before gluing the pieces together as the adhesive goes off quick and is quite expensive.

I am considering using ebay to sell the vents from now on as chasing up those who have put in orders can be time consuming.

Puts me in a difficult position when I get no replies, as I cant really hold the vents for too long when there is a list of back orders.

Shouldn't be a problem, this is the last batch I am making until October.

for ducting I went to clark rubber an bought some nice convoluted hose (similar to household vacuum hose).
I joined this to the duct using a short piece of radiator hose and some clamps.

Finally (haven't done this yet) I will sikaflex these to the under dash area. you could also use speed clips and screws, but I think the screws are unsightly.

to join them to the Smith's beehive I made some fibreglass adaptors moulded off the rubber joiners.  I haven't quite worked out how to attach these to the heater body yet..  maybe hot glue gun or something...

will let you know once the vents are ready.  I supply the vents only.

hi Ed just wanted to know if you are still making the fc demister vents & if so how much & how long to get a pair .Im just starting a reno on a 59 fc & need to have a demister set up for engineer also any ideas on what type of heater i can use thanks craig 0414951930.

as for the vents there are a few back orders which i need to clear.

I will go and get the materials next weekend.

i had put off making this batch as I was doing engine work in the gargage.  the fibreglass makes a lot of dust so I was reluctant to dust up the place.

now the motor is in the car I can mak eup some glass.

off the top of my head the FB/EK are quite angular and these are quite rounded.

I should make some to suit FB?EK while I've got one handy.

I used "speed clips" fitted over the vent lip, and then drilled the dash where the factory holes would have been.

If anybody has the fitting template and could post it, would be much appreciated.  I seem to have lost mine.

alternatively use sikaflex or similar adhesive into the vent opening.

Thanks guys, i'll have a look there too, there's a new glue like liquid nails i'd have to find out the name of it but we use it for sticking down smoothedge when the floor is too hard to nail into, within 1/2 an hour we can stretch the carpet off it and it doesn't let go, i've used it on my reno and once something is glued with it you WON"T get it apart again.

The carpet layers down hear use liquid nails rapid  it can hold carpet that has been power stretched in half an hour ......FC427......

How well does it go in a car that is in the carpark in 40Deg sun for 5 hours and windows sealed?

I can't see that being a problem as it sets extremely hard and grips like shit to a blanket, i'm more concerned about how the hell we will get them back off if we ever need to, better make sure we don't put them on the wrong way round or something stupid like that ::)

I've got a set of Master Ho's FE/FC repro demister vents in my EK wagon. They need a plate sikaflexed to them to mount, easy to cut out (could us the bum of an icecream container or a tupperware in a pinch). The plate also helps seal them to the dash vent cutout. They come very close to rubbing on the recirculating wiper arms, but just clear (at least in a wagon).

Sorry for the slow response... got home from work and am slowly working my way down the "to do" list.

The photos below show the repro demister vents fitted to an EK wagon. They are slightly too narrow for the dash slot, but that helps to shift them away from the wiper arm - as you can see in the photos, it's a tight fit but they (just!) clear with some judicious grinding on the drivers side.

The little plates that mount to the dash I made up from some gal sheet I had lying around... truth be known, you could almost use the bottom of an icecream container. The foam rubber helps it to seal. Both foam and rubber are Sikaflexed on.

The duct tape wrapped around the circular inlets is to adapt up to the dodgy blue pool hose... temporary until I find a decent source of long lengths of aluminium concertina hose.

Not a perfect bolt-up fit, but a lot easier than paying the $200-$400 per pair that original tin FB/EK vents pull on eBay.

Thanks Pete. I can get the hose in 1' lengths (Fuelmiser 40mm outside diameter, part number PHD-40ML), but no longer in length. I called the Aussie Fuelmiser supplier, and they couldn't source me longer lengths. Might have to duct tape two together (can't look any worse than that blue pool hose  :-[.
