Title: Wanted - Bellhousing to suit Aussie 4 spd to grey motor Post by: Crumpsnr on March 19, 2018, 09:05:05 PM Hi all,
I bought an FC wagon that's completely original in specs but I'd like to fit an Aussie 4 spd floor shift behind the grey. When you see pics of the car you'll see I'm not desecrating a good 'un. It's ratty and is going to stay that way. This is the only change I'm going to make to it, other than fixing rust. I figure this mod is pretty old school these days, so hopefully someone will have an unused Dellow bellhousing or equivalent to suit. I might be wrong but I also think manual EJ's had a separate bellhousing that should suit. Thanks, Martyn Title: Re: Wanted - Bellhousing to suit Aussie 4 spd to grey motor Post by: collecta on March 20, 2018, 12:48:51 AM EJ did have separate bell housing but wont mate up to an aussie four speed. You need a b/housing from HT on full synchro, and a slave cylinder bracket to keep hydraulic clutch.
cheers Scott. Title: Re: Wanted - Bellhousing to suit Aussie 4 spd to grey motor Post by: Crumpsnr on March 20, 2018, 05:58:40 PM Thanks Scott.
I don't believe a red motor bellhousing will suit because it won't be set up to use the two rear mounts. I could always make a crossmember to hold the back of the box instead. The car has no floors to speak of right now! Ta, Martyn Title: Re: Wanted - Bellhousing to suit Aussie 4 spd to grey motor Post by: ardiesse on March 20, 2018, 09:41:08 PM Martyn,
You need three engine mounts to provide stability. With only the front grey motor mount and the red motor's rear gearbox mount, your engine and transmission will fall over when you apply power. I thought Dellows or Hadfields made either a bracket kit which bolts onto the red bellhousing where the clutch cover goes, or a 360-degree bellhousing. After all, people put Traumatics behind grey motors, so someone has worked out the mounting problem. Dellows still make their bellhousing, just waiting on an email with details. I had hoped there would have been plenty of these lying around now. I'm not in a hurry, so plenty of time to turn one up. Regards, Martyn |
