Just trailered my sedan over to get the headers hooked up. The mechanic says he needs a flange plate to attach to the headers. I thought that he should have been able to make one up? They take the exact same gasket donut as the standard zaust... just two of them ;D. If he can't find a flange plate, then he can't make a exhaust for any grey motor.

I have had the same nonsense from exhaust guys [parts fitters ] and ended up making my own and taking them to a different exhaust guy . As we spiral toward a cashless society and real tradespeople retire there is going to be nobody to think on their feet and do this sort of work .

Don't have much option up here to take some where else. Harv is there a preferred method of design for the engine pipes for the headers? Should he have the flange gasket?? Nick Title: Re: Jack Myer Post by: Harv on October 13, 2017, 07:11:05 AM Typically two pipes off the headers, joining into a single pipe not too far from the firewall (normally just after the firewall, under the car). The flanges are normally slip-on (not weld-on), with the engine pipes flared to retain them. Can also weld-on, provided he is confident on alignment (tack first). The gasket donut is available off the shelf - he should have them, if not SuperCheap does.

I have had some exhaust guys adjust my drag link to get clearance only to find I cant steer my car home because it is pulling to the left as the steering box tries to centre itself .
