Title: FB Identity
Post by: Fraze on December 31, 2016, 07:59:51 AM
I have an FB ute and am trying to figure when (to the month) it and it's engine were built. It is chassis number FB30730S and engine number B154003. Can anyone help? Thanks, Fraze

Don't know who, if anyone, collects FB EK data.
However, since Holden made 174747 FB's then yours would be near the end.
My guess would be February March 1961 (EK released in April 1961)

Hi Fraze go onto the FB EK forum and there is a section that does have a lot of info I'm sure you will be able to get an answer.

All of the castings, head, block and gearbox have casting dates on them. Harv has the codes decoded on the forum here somewhere. I used them myself to work out my head  gearbox and block are from three different models. Codes are letter followed by 2 or 3 numbers. For example A123. These dates won't tell you much about the vehicle year unless it is known for certain to be original driveline.

Thanks for the replies. I have searched the FB EK Forum several times for this info but haven't found anything definitive. Fraze
