Post by: Boothy on November 28, 2016, 07:05:51 PM
Rather than find front guards that have had there day,
I wonder if there is someone out there making fibreglass one.

Nobody makes them anymore, they used to be made in the 70's / 80's but honestly, they were not that good.
I had a pair on a car way back then and the fit was poor at best.
On the other hand, NOS guards can be a problem as well. Mostly because the reason they remain unfitted to a car is because they were bought by a dealership and they did not fit well, and were put aside.
My 3 tone green FC had NOS guards and both guards were cut and reshaped around the grille to make them fit properly.
Later cars I have done, I have used as straight a guard as possible with minimal rust and then repaired the rust.
My experience is that a well repaired used guard is as good as any other solution.

A little O/T, but I've got a set of moulds to make fibreglass guards, front doors (inner+outer), bonnets (skins) and bootlids (skins) to suit FB/EK.

They're on the "one day I need to learn how to fibreglass" list.

Cheers,
Harv
