Title: subframe repairs
Post by: fe van on September 24, 2016, 06:06:36 PM
G'day all, looking at starting repairs to the sub frame front tie rail, I have the 3 pieces from rare spares the two corners and one front piece, my question is, the corner pieces the bumper bracket holes are offset compared to the original frame, the holes are in line on the original but the replacement pieces the front hole is higher by about 10mm, I don't have any bumper brackets to look at, are the front holes elongated on the brackets? would like to hear from anyone who has used these replacement sections any help would be much appreciated.
thanks darren

I bolted my bar on 2 weeks ago fitted perfect .
Theres a fair bit of movement in the brackets.
I welded  3mm thick disc like a washer on the inside of the back hole as over the yrs it had pulled into the rail a bit.
Allows you to tighten the bolt a bit tighter and it still clears the splash guard.

I have 1 new corner and complete new front section.
Rares have certainly picked up there game on quality.
the panel fitted perfect and was thick steel

Thanks Pete,
I had my idea on how we were going to do it, always good to get another opinion by someone who has done it, just a little bit harder when you don't have all the parts and yes I agree that rare spares have picked up their game since last time I bought replacement panels.
thanks again
