Title: Reproduction FC Escutcheon Plates
Post by: fcfromscratch on July 29, 2003, 09:57:43 AM
Would you be interested in a set of reproduction FC dash board escutcheon plates that fit under/around the 4 control switches.  It seems that they are hard to come by in good condition, how about a reproduction item similar to the boot badges that Graham Fuller has done recently??

Sounds a good idea, but hard to submit an opinion on without seeing a prototype.

Good idea, perhaps FE repo's as well or which ever is cheaper to make.
If i'm not mistaken the 1954 model chev had the same surrounds.

Great Idea.
I would buy a couple of sets, however the price would play apart as to how many I purchased.

Vote place.

FE and FC are not the same.  FEs are circular, one per control, so total of four.  FC are oval, connecting the two controls on each side of the speedo together.  They were probably cheaper to make, but tend to crack down the middle, probably due to the void behind them in between the two controls as well as the reduced give that individual items would have (with the movement of the control in question, especially the left cable-operated jobs).

FB/EK ones are round like FE ones but have black backgrounds like FC ones.

So they're no use to you, Cat.  I didn't know about Chev ones being the same - that's an interesting tidbit.

cheers

I think good original FE ones are easier to come by anyway, for the longevity reasons outlined above.
