Title: Chassis Kits.....
Post by: intrepid on March 11, 2016, 08:14:48 PM
Hi
I am currently rebuilding an FC and I am in 2 minds as to reinforce the chassis myself or buy a chassis kit, I have seen a few pictures and they look pretty straight forward to build. My question to those that have reinforced there chassis, am I better off to buy the CRS kit or build my own. Does anyone have dimensions of the tube size and length needed and pictures of there own that they have fabricated. I will be mounting a Castlemaine Rod Shop front independent suspension on the front end. I am putting a small block chev in my FC.

Any information would be of great help,

Regards
Intrepid

Depends on what you want to save... Time and effort or money?

Thanks for the replies,

Its more to do with getting it engineered if I strengthen the chassis myself or is it just easier to buy the kit already engineered,

Thanks for the links and the information on the FIS kits, I have been reading a lot of the posts of previous builds as I am only new to the build myself.

I need to replace my front cross member so I was going to kill 2 birds with one stone and strengthen the chassis at the same time.

I will post some pictures of my build shortly......

Rod Tech in Adelaide also do a front end for Holdens, adjustable castor/camber and last time I saw a price they started under $5K.

Thanks for the link, rod techs front ends look sharp, they must be closed on Saturdays as I tried to call them. I'll try on Monday.

Do you know if they make chassis strengthen kits. Could not see anything on there website

Is there anyone in Sydney that builds these kits.......

Don't try Monday as it is a public holiday in SA for Adelaide cup day. Try Tuesday instead.

I would see an engineer first,if your capable to build your chassis kit,he will show you, saving you lots,as for f/ends,get paperwork, pics.etc, from approved companys and show him,not all engineers are the same, let him tell you what he prefers,it makes it all easier for you in the long run, good luck.

Thanks for the heads up,I am going to see an engineer tomorrow that does not live far from where I am, (G Force engineering) apparently he has engineered a few FC before. I am going to get list from him as to what I need to do. I assumed that all FIS front ends that were engineered were suitable..... That could have been a costly mistake. Thanking you again for the information. I just want to do it right from the start
