Title: Freighting Goods
Post by: KFH on March 06, 2016, 02:58:42 PM
Does anybody know of a company/firm that can cheaply and safely transport a parcel from Toowoomba to Adelaide area.  The parcel is 550 X 450 X 300 and weighs 5.5kg.  The postal cost is quite expensive.

e-Go is certainly the cheapest courier I have seen, and I would have little hesitation using them for bulky or heavy items that are not able to be damaged.

I am a lot more guarded about using them for anything fragile. They subcontract out to various local couriers. The courier they use in my area is very rough. I have had two parcels (both superchargers) arrive that have had the packaging shattered, despite being very well packed by the senders. It takes special effort to shatter a 20L plastic box. The force involved was enough to bend 1/2" studs (!). It breaks your heart to see a courier walking up your driveway with a Norman, with pieces falling out of the box.

I've picked other parcels up from their warehouse, and watched the way their forklifts operate for pick-and-carry... can't say I was impressed.

Cheers,
Harv

Hi Keith,
I have started using SENDLE. https://www.sendle.com ($2)
So far, excellent servicing and pricing.
Your parcel is just over the $14.75 weight, but will cost you $18.75 door-to-door.
Cheers,
Gary.

Hi Keith,
I had 4 redline 19" wheels and tyres dropped of at Caboolture depot for e-go last month.
they weighed 25kg each.
With insurance it cost $165.
I picked them up from the depot in Adelaide about 6 days later.
I organised it all on the net (although being a bit nervous about my $800 investment)
Had the email and the text messages promptly and could track them on line.
Was very happy to say all went well with no problems.

I've used e-go to transport a 202, Webers, corvette seats, an entire interior, a bonnet and various bike parts from all over Australia down to Hobart. Never any problems, always a reasonable price, especially Depo to Depo.

I'm about to freight a couple of pushies to Alice Springs, including a carbon fibre framed bike, and it's worked out pretty cheap.

Regards,

Josh.
