I cant believe the mark up on gas.
My friend bought outright at toolies a e size bottle 400 ish dollars and they charge him 180 to refill it.
I use up to 300 bottles a yr but now pay 52 dollars for a large G size mig gas.

That's steep alright. It should gradually improve in time as more businesses gain appropriate approvals from the regulatory bodies. From what I understand, it's quite an ordeal to at the moment.

How much do you charge for refills?  ;)

Weighing up if l will buy a bottle outright and do away with the rental
a swap and go system would be good .
its just annoying that l payout more in rental
    than l use in gas
l am only doing my wagon rust repair and the odd car club job  will get rid of it when the wagons done
but thats a couple of years away

I cancelled my rentals, reduced the number of bottles & bought for the same reason - far less gas used over a longer term now.
I believe the bottles can be resold when you no longer have the need so buying isn't a complete loss.

F$&@ rentals. I sent mine back when I left Newcastle dam near full. And they knew it too.

Total tools Traralgon Vic has outright $350 for the smallest Ar CO2 (d?) and that's what I will get.

Expensive but it'll last longer than a rental will coat

Yup, mine went back 3/4 full when I had finished all of my welding... won't be renting again.
Total tools is the place to go in Vic, buy one outright and be done with it.

Next project this is what I am doing.

Cheers
JB

I wonder if Bunnings are considering adding Argon / MIGShield etc to the current line up of oxy and acetylene ?

BOC is a way too expensive !
