Title: Outrigger
Post by: Professor Grey on November 10, 2015, 03:47:18 PM
Hi All,
I have the crossmember out of my FC at the moment and notice the rivets holding the outrigger are VERY loose.
Any ideas on whether it is OK to weld the outrigger on?
I remember reading a thread on something similar a while back, but can't find anything in a search.
Cheers,
Prof.

Hi All,
I did a more refined search and found the thread I was looking for.
It appears that welding is acceptable. It just doesn't look original.
However, that's OK by me.
Cheers,
Prof.

How did you go with the outrigger . I did many hundreds of them at rods and if they are removed carefully and prepped well it can look much neater and stronger . Grind and punch the rivets and drill the spot-welds and it should fall off . Just clean it well and weld it back on. If you dwell over the rivet holes as you fill them ,you can reproduce the look of the rivets . You can do similar with the spot-welds . Haydn
