Title: How far from reach was a new Holden to Mr. Average in 1957
Post by: FE_UTE on October 24, 2015, 06:22:49 PM
In 1957 my grandfather was 49. He had a job as a green keeper at a golf club. He rented a house in the suburbs and bought second hand cars.
He smoked, had a beer and had a wife and two kids to support...enjoyed life and passed in 2007 at 99 years 2 months

Heres a copy of his earnings for that 1956/57 and 1958/59 ..It would take well over a year of take home pay to own a new Holden....and we reken that cars are  expensive today
