Title: Tip : Number Plate mounting
Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on October 11, 2015, 03:35:34 PM
I needed to mount my new SA plates in a hurry (keen for first drive in quite some time!), the problem is that SA plates aren't pre-drilled for FE/FC Holdens (go figure  ???)
Drilling mounting holes in the plates to get the plate sitting in a centred position would mean going through the raised letters  >:(
No alloy sheet or metal sheet in the garage to make up some adaptors (casualties of moving house).
So, I popped next door to Stratco and got some garden edging, it's about 4-5mm thick and easy to work with. Measured up the rectangular pieces I needed, drilled the lower holes to match the bumper and the upper holes to match the plates, job done  ;D
(half of that story is a lie, my son did the fab work, had to make him do one mount twice because it was a couple of mm off  :D)

I used Meccano to match the holes from my bumper to the the ACT historic plate.

Cheers
