Q. Before a rear windshield is fitted, should the rear parcel shelf be fixed in place?

Yes, the trim gets folded and glued under where the rubber sits for the rear windows. Similar to the headlining for the front windscreen.

If you are using an aftermarket parcel shelf it should not matter, but as JB said, you will need to trim across the bottom before you fit the screen.

How ever do you get the rear window SS to meet in the centre?

Everywhere else on the front & back windshields fits OK but the top rear moulds have been a real challenge to bring together & keep in place.

The whole lot should be together in the rubber on the rear screen before you start the install.
Any slight misalignment should come together as the screen is bumped in. If it is a new rubber it is a good idea to stretch it onto the glass and leave for a week before installing but a good screen installer will have no trouble with it.

Thanks Ken. Have had the whole thing together for a couple of months now. Finding a specialist screen installer who has done a few of these isn't possible where the car is. The panel beater/painter & I played around with it for a few hours today. He's retired & has a few old Holdens under his belt, but I wondered if there was a trick to these when everything else seemed to slip into place so well. May end up taking it back out tomorrow but it wasn't my first choice.
