Title: Battery Restoration Feed Back Post by: Ken's 57 on July 12, 2003, 05:33:34 AM Some follow up on the battery restoration place in Melbourne. Ariel Batteries in Clifton Hill completed the job in a day and a half. Cost was $100 to fully rebuild an original 6v GMH battery and charge it up. First class job overall. All the cells were replaced and a new top supplied and fitted. If anyone is interested, any battery can be sent via post (minus the acid of course) for around $23 and will be returned by post ready to fill and charge. The proprieter says he does this often and rebuilds for quite a few clubs around the country - looks like he's been in the business for yonks and we found him really helpful and efficient. He's worth a try if you want to preserve a good original battery. The only proviso for restoration is that your battery case must be OK. We also took an Air Chief valve radio back to Nostalgic Wireless, also in Melbourne. It had been beautifully restored by them 6 months before but had developed a reception problem. Apparently a small spider had got into the works and built a home. Peter at Nostalgic W pulled it apart and had it fixed the following day, free of charge. We found him very obliging and would certainly use him again.
