Title: Rattling Windscreen
Post by: CoolFCWgn on April 29, 2015, 08:46:18 PM

Has anyone encountered a sound like the windscreen rattling or knocking at the top of the dash?

I thought the sound may have been coming from the wipers, though as far as I can tell it does seem to be the windscreen. I didn't replace the rubber on my wagon as it and the screen looked fairly new.

Any thoughts appreciated .

Ian

The screen can move around in the rubber if it hasn't been fully sealed. I helped another member with a similar problem, I sealed the screen with neutral cure silicone which fixed the problem.

We had a sound like that in an old Pontiac Chieftain, until the old man got the rat with a BBQ skewer.
I had similar in an EK with sloppy wiper linkages.

I sometimes have a rattle from my passenger door frame . The self tappers that hold the quarter window into the door will tap on the frame if the door is swung too high , making a cracking noise . Haydn
