That must have been a real blast, also the shots of the corner from the fence and up the straight, great work and thanks for sharing your run with us. A super weekend Uskrjv-PPOU regards Weddo Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on March 24, 2015, 06:31:53 PM I miss watching hill climbs near Burnie, Targa etc up the back around North Motton, Sprent and on the back roads. My great great great grandfather had a brickfield in Deloraine in the 1850's. I'm from Ulvy. Tassie punches above it's weight in motorsport I reckon.

Talking about 53, I found this early photo in the May 1991 Newsletter of the VIC Club. Great that both 53 and Eddie Dobbs car are both still racing after all this time :) (http://members.optusnet.com.au/blackct/_53.jpg) Cheers, Trevor_B Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: weddo on March 24, 2015, 06:57:26 PM Thats a good old pic Trevor, haven't seen that one before.
Eddie was in Tassie for the Historic meeting last October. He raced in open company and in Holden only Historic Regularity over the weekend. I only raced in Holden only Historic Regularity (field of 34 earlies)and beat Eddie........... 1st Wedd, 2nd Dobbs, probably the only time the FC has headed up the FE, felt good. regards Weddo Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: GreyFC on March 24, 2015, 07:40:14 PM Sounds awesome.
Even at 160ish steering wheel so straight! Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on March 24, 2015, 07:41:02 PM Congrats Weddo. Did you see this Gasoline vid on YouTube (old). A good view of the FE Holden next to the mustang at 14.20 mins. Some of these top speeds by the Aussie muscle cars are same as the new mustang. Some interesting cars. https://youtu.be/nlruWWmLAbM

The 1991 newsletter article.......I wrote this back in the days when I used a typewriter for newsletter articles. (Yes, that's a computer without an electricity cable) Pity about the spelling :P Ken Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: JOX515 on March 24, 2015, 10:07:20 PM Absolutely fantastic Weddo ;D And you drove that bloody thing to Perth!!!!!!

Any idea how long it took to do the flying mile Weddo? I'm curious to compare to Mustard/McInnery's single-Norman blown Elfin (26.32s, 137mph in 1964) and the current national record (Daihatsu Charade Turbo, 40.03s, terminal speed unknown, in 1985). Cheers, Harv Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: weddo on March 25, 2015, 06:17:29 PM Heres another with the FC about 3.40 into it and a little bit of air front left

My elapsed time was about 72 seconds and top speed was 157 k/h My fastest pass about 4 years ago was 151 k/h so I guess in another 4 years I will crack 100 mph !!!!! ;D Might have to do a diff change and 15" wheels next year ;) regards Weddo Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: JOX515 on March 25, 2015, 06:46:07 PM Weddo, Is Longford going to be an annual event? Graeme.
Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: weddo on March 25, 2015, 08:31:59 PM Graeme,
The festival started 4 years ago and was held on land next to the original flying mile. Just flying runs and car displays, food wine entertainments etc. Lasted two years and stopped. The business changed hands and started again this year with the structure of the event changed and based around the village green in Longford with big screen broadcasts, 3 events, car show, food, wine, entertainment etc and it was a great festival. Now hoping to run each year. regards Weddo Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: JOX515 on March 25, 2015, 08:45:10 PM Yet another good reason to come to Tassie for a holiday in the wagon ;D
Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: NES304 on March 25, 2015, 09:00:52 PM I tried to time your 1/4 mile... so what is it officially?
Ps love hearing it scream! Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: weddo on March 26, 2015, 03:26:39 PM NES304, the 1/4 mile was clocked at 18 seconds via two way radio count down and a beam break finish that was picked up about 1 k away, so not real accurate
I was happy with the runs anyway as it was really a speed demonstration weekend. regards Weddo Title: Re: The 53 at Longford Revival Festival Post by: RET on March 26, 2015, 05:09:38 PM Looks like everyone was having a great time.
