Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on December 04, 2014, 08:39:44 AM I did check some places and no luck sorry. Have you tried these guys who specialise in grey motor era cars. They will know if there are any. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/03/16bd861c38381b3ac26e7f49d5d8fffa.jpg)
Title: Re: Rocker shaft Post by: Fraze on December 04, 2014, 03:54:09 PM Thanks for the clue Deano, I called Old Oldens but they only had used rocker shafts. I will keep searching for a new one - there has to be one somewhere - just a matter of wrinkling it out. Cheers, Frazer
Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on December 04, 2014, 05:51:12 PM Yeah I reckon. Some of the Facebook groups have wanted sections in large cities. Might be worth a try.
Title: Re: Rocker shaft Post by: GreyFC on December 04, 2014, 07:33:12 PM Malcom Church makes them. As good as brand new if not better but they're not cheap I think it's $600 a set.
Title: Re: Rocker shaft Post by: Fraze on December 05, 2014, 08:20:12 AM If I can't get a new rocker shaft I will look at turning the existing ones (which aren't too bad) through 90 deg. to the unworn area. Frazer
Title: Re: Rocker shaft Post by: Fraze on December 05, 2014, 03:16:17 PM Can't rotate the rocker shaft 90 deg!!!! Oil hole has to line up.
Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on December 05, 2014, 05:20:13 PM If the old one isn't too bad, can you copper plate til right thickness.
Title: Re: Rocker shaft Post by: Fraze on December 05, 2014, 05:31:04 PM I had the original rocker shafts linished this arvo and they are pretty good so I will go with them until I can find a new one. Frazer
Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on December 06, 2014, 11:05:33 AM I'm a bit surprised you can't get new ones. Are these an item that wear out a lot or only on high km motors? Does anyone know.
Title: Re: Rocker shaft Post by: mcl1959 on December 06, 2014, 11:24:44 AM They do wear and it is hard to find a shaft without some evidence of abrasion. Typically it doesn't effect the engine very much though, so most people don't bother replacing them. Even very worn shafts will still run ok.
Ken Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on December 06, 2014, 12:20:18 PM I wouldn't have thought it would matter much, but I'll will be interested to see how much wear the taxi shafts have. Thanks Ken.
