Title: Boot Springs Post by: KFH on July 13, 2014, 06:23:04 PM I have had to resort to using "The Nasco Broomstick" to keep the boot open due to a broken boot spring. I would like to get a pair of springs. If anybody can help PM me please. Is there an identical substitute that is used in other aussie vehicles here or overseas vehicles. Does anybody make new ones.

Ill have a look for you. Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: mcl1959 on July 13, 2014, 09:07:13 PM If not found, I have a pair.

I appreciate both you guys are after springs, but I do have stock of the adjustable boot pins at the moment. These make it dead simple to fit springs without needing the special tool shown in the Workshop Manual, and allow adjustment to suit a worn spring. $54/pr posted. http://forum.fefcholden.club/index.php/topic,10609.0.html Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: KFH on July 14, 2014, 07:49:51 AM Thanks Pete and Ken. Ken I'll wait and see if Pete finds the springs if not I'll contact you. RET I have those adjustable posts on the FC. They are excellent

thanks Mark Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: FCRB26 on July 15, 2014, 06:48:11 AM I have 2 from my sedan and 2 parts cars that have had the bolt treatment i think.
I will check them out tonight if i remeber. Pete Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: mcl1959 on July 15, 2014, 05:33:35 PM Mark, are yours for an FE or an FC? FE are different to FC and if you want to run the FC springs (wider) on an FE then you would also have to change the boot lid hinges.
Ken Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: ekute on July 15, 2014, 08:47:49 PM Yes Ken I have an FE.So if you or Pete have a set or even 1 them I will gladly take them.
Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: KFH on July 15, 2014, 09:33:25 PM All sorted with Pete for springs
Keith Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: mcl1959 on July 15, 2014, 09:48:38 PM Unfortunately no FE boot springs. These are a lot harder to find than FC ones.
Ken Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: ekute on July 20, 2014, 07:37:25 PM OK Ken have you got a set of FC hinges and springs that you would be willing to part with?
Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: mcl1959 on July 20, 2014, 09:12:45 PM I have a LH FC boot hinge and I could make an FE one that I have into an FC one. Maybe someone has a RH hinge they could part with. If not I can do the whole lot - 2 boot hinges and 2 boot springs for $40 plus postage.
Regards. Ken Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: NES304 on July 20, 2014, 09:23:59 PM Anyone have a photo of them both out of curiosity?
Title: Re: Boot Springs Post by: mcl1959 on July 20, 2014, 09:57:14 PM Thy are identical apart from the bracket that holds the spring. Because the FC spring is wider, the arm on the bracket that holds the spring is a little longer. Also the hole where the bracket slides over the bolt is larger on FC.

FE on right and FC on left. With that removed, the larger spring sits quite comfortably on the narrower 'shelf'.
