Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: FireKraka on May 06, 2014, 09:42:02 PM Looks like a nice start Penners tells us more about your new addition and as Pete said looks like it would have been a hottie in its day

That is a good looking sedan - guess you will be very busy from now on ;D Cheers, Graeme Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: Penners on May 07, 2014, 10:42:22 AM Hi guys, just picked it up from Cessnock last weekend as a roller, had a re fresh in the 80's which is in line with your thoughts Pete. My father has a panel shop, my brother is also a beater and both can't believe how clean the body is. All the usual trouble spots have minor rust, most panels will only require hi-fill primer and a good rub. Has had a CRS trannie tunnel and has had a chassis kit started. Am wanting to build a low tough streeter, but with the body in this condition am now wondering if back to original might be in the best interest of this particular car.... Tough call.... Thoughts???

These are the pics I was sent by Mark Granger for my consideration, along with another 60 or so more detailed images.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: FCRB26 on May 07, 2014, 10:59:48 AM I think this is the elusive FC i had been chasing for a while bloke about 35-40 was umming and arghing as to weather or not to sell it.
I got the 2 other sedans from his dads property .. (if its the car ) Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: Penners on May 07, 2014, 11:35:15 AM I was really hoping to cast an eye over your rig while I was up that way Pete, but was time poor.. I just love the way your weapon sits... It's on airbags isn't it??

Good luck with your build. Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: JOX515 on May 07, 2014, 01:21:04 PM With the body in such good condition......
Perfect for starting to build what you want - a really good clean and straight body and frame is much easier to work with. Some mods already started (tranny tunnel and chassis), so I would keep going and modify it. Cheers, Graeme Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: FireKraka on May 08, 2014, 01:49:05 PM Hi Penners I agree with JOX with the mods already done you may as well keep going it will save you time and money to have these already done, good luck.

Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: NES304 on May 09, 2014, 04:27:58 PM I have a spare 5L V8 from a VR in good running cond to put in it!!! Actually it's in a statesman that's still registered and daily drive...
Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: ardiesse on May 09, 2014, 04:29:23 PM Bingo! Thought the car looked familiar . . .
In 2008 when I was starting out on the restoration of my FC, I bought a steering column and king-pin front suspension from Cessnock. It was the same Mark Granger. Rob Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: FCRB26 on May 09, 2014, 04:52:15 PM I think its mark granger that i use to deal with from westrac as we are there sheetmetal supplier..
Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: Penners on May 09, 2014, 09:28:50 PM Seems to be a small world here in the FC community.. Car is now in Ballarat and will start getting some love soon.. Now need to find a sympathetic engineer to plan the drive train..

Post by: Ol_Girl_58 on May 10, 2014, 08:28:32 AM Given the engine capacity restrictions that have come into play with the info of the new VSB, I think that a 1UZ Toyota V8 is a slick option. You can get a lot of performance gear for them too, albeit out of the States.
Despite recently finishing my triple weber 202 powered FC, I am seriously considering swapping the 6 for a 1UZ. You can buy an 8 throttle body intake for them which looks pretty trick. Found these examples of the 1uz-fe toyota option. Have you found any particular sites that have shiny bits for these?(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/05/ytetasug.jpg) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: Ol_Girl_58 on June 05, 2014, 02:22:55 PM There is/was a guy on the ozrodders forum who was looking into making finned rocker covers for the 1UZ, but I am not sure if he ended up doing it.
Ed is a bloke on this forum who built up an FE wagon and is now building a 1UZ powered early F truck. He is very cluey - I wonder if he has found some shiny bits that transform the 1UZ into an older looking engine? Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: collecta on June 05, 2014, 05:59:50 PM There's one in an EK in NZ. Great read on the FB/EK forum with lots of modification pics.
cheers Scott Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: JOX515 on June 10, 2014, 10:01:26 PM G'day Penners,

Post by: Penners on June 10, 2014, 11:15:32 PM Hi there Graeme, just back from mt Isa, and have finished up there for now.. Just in the process of deciding on an engine/ drivetrain combo rite now.. Will be an 8, but looking at Toyota, Audi, jaguar and bmw options under 4.2liter.

Post by: JOX515 on June 10, 2014, 11:19:38 PM Went for my first almost legal drive today - just around the block a couple of times. Missing a couple of headlight rings so cant fit the lights up. Still a lot of fiddly things to do but have a couple of weeks off now so hopefully will be able to get stuck back into it again. Off to Perth on Thursday for a long weekend to catch up with wifey (she over there till end of month with her job).

Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: Ol_Girl_58 on June 16, 2014, 09:20:11 PM I've been thinking about this build, mostly because I plan on ditching the 202 in my FC down the track and installing a modern, small displacement V8 in its place. I think you'd have the most aftermarket support with the Toyota V8, as you've already found with all the aftermarket performance options available. I think the Audi motor would be a bit of a headache, considering that they all have Quattro running gear behind them. At least with the Tojo V8 you can stick a Supra 5 speed behind it with minimal fuss. I doubt you'd find an Audi or BMW motor with a manual box cheaply or easily!
Have you thought about an IRS from an early 3 series or 200SX? Just my thoughts. Cheers, Josh. Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: Penners on June 19, 2014, 05:59:57 PM Hey Josh's, there certainly are quite a few bits and pieces available for the 1uz. I have access to a 200sx, so might pop it on the hoist for a look and measure.. Awesome brakes on a 200 also.
Where are you located Josh? I'm in Ballarat vic. Maybe we can pool our resources, and build a hot little engine each... Cheers Matt 0438527294 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: Ol_Girl_58 on October 13, 2014, 07:01:16 PM How's your build going Penners?
I'm in Hobart. I've decided to stick with the 202 for the time being and squeeze as much grunt out of it as I can before it grenades. Cheers, Josh. Title: Re: My new addition.. Post by: GMVAN on October 15, 2014, 10:14:14 AM Hey Penner's Nice ride how much did you pay for it if that's not being too nozy also I noticed in the first two pictures you have a push and pull bar fitted was that to push one f#@d and pull one f#@d home in your FC. Title: Re: Post by: fe350chev on December 01, 2014, 10:09:27 AM How is this build going. Have you been researching the 1uz anymore? See they use them in speedway in NZ.
