Trim is Riff Red and Black Paint is Granite Grey body and roof Insert is India Ivory. Have a look at my posts "my FC rebuild" page 1, the paint scheme is the same although mine is a sedan. Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: fcwrangler on March 10, 2014, 07:12:27 AM Nice looking wagon' yours is the middle paint scheme, the first was "insert" colour on roof and doors and the third was body colour all over with just the doors and flash done in the insert colour. That is why there is a "top" code on the tag which is the same as the paint code.
Jim Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: mcl1959 on March 10, 2014, 01:22:05 PM Actually only sedans have three different colour schemes. Wagons only have two different paint schemes. 1958 versions with the roof painted the flash colour and the 59 version with the roof painted the body colour.
A third model would have to have a chrome stripe of some sort above the tail liiight running to the rear window. Something like what Surferboy has done on his wagon would work. Wagons did get the embossed seats that identify the third series sedans but the paint scheme remained. Ken Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: FantaC on March 10, 2014, 06:05:49 PM Thanks again Guys
the plan is to restore it It does have a disk brake front end but I can live with that ;) what colour should the firewall be ? body colour or black ? Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: mcl1959 on March 10, 2014, 07:36:39 PM Rough dating since I don't have chassis number or engine number is Sep/Nov 59. This puts it around the time of the changeover from body colour firewall to black firewall so I really could not say with certainty. Probably black firewall if it was a Victorian assembled car and maybe body coloured if it was a Sydney car. But this is just a guide.
Ken Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: FC Dave on March 10, 2014, 08:13:47 PM mlc, my 58 wagon has roof & body the same, Adobe Beige, & Olinda green flash. It has a colour firewall, assembled in Sydney. Always new things to learn.
Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: mcl1959 on March 10, 2014, 10:48:07 PM Dave, do you know the actual date of your wagon?
Interested to get more intelligence when the colour change on the exterior actually occurred. Ken Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: fcwrangler on March 10, 2014, 10:58:31 PM I to have lernt something, didn't know there was only two paint schemes on the wagons.
Jim Title: Re: Wagon Tag Post by: FC Dave on March 11, 2014, 05:52:21 AM Ken, going off the tech website(which, I might ad is a great thing), Chassis number 8-16934-S. Info says it is the 15934th FC (of any body shape) assembled in Sydney. Body Number is 5788-A. I don't have an exact build date apart from 1958. The engine is an FB job, so no joy on dates there. There is no "TOP" number on my ID, which suggests body colour from the start. Until now, I hadn't noticed the different roof colours on the wagons. A mate of mine has a couple tucked away. I will have to get their numbers. From what I can remember, one is white roof & body, blue flash, the other one is white roof & body, maroon flash. Cheers, Dave
