Bill,

How 'open for business' will we find Hobart (and surrounds) on Good Friday?
If say, we took a little drive to say Cygnet, Huonville, Snug etc on Good Friday, would the tourist shops be open?
(and, what's available at Sandy Bay on the Picnic Run).

Parking in, and around Hobart City - are there any secure parking stations available for the general public should we want to look round the city in the week before the Nats?

I doubt there will be too many businesses open over this period, with small 'corner stores' being an exception.

I doubt there will be shops open at Cygnet due to it being Good Friday and the fact that Cygnet's a small town. The same goes for Snug. Both beautiful places though, and I highly recommend visiting.

There are a few undercover parking stations to choose from - Argyle Street carpark, Trafalgar Place carpark, Market Place car park, plus a few others. This is a handy site to visit, it includes a map of car parking locations:

The Lions Club of Glenorchy have offered to supply a picnic pack for the Friday run to Sandy Bay comprising of fresh cut sandwiches, a drink, a piece of fruit and a muisely bar or similar and delivered to the picnic for $10 per person. They will need to be preordered (about a week beforehand) and can be paid for at registration. A meal ticket will be issued.

Hmmm a Pie and a milkshake is all that is required.

There was one at Sorell (15 minutes away from Nats HQ), but I'm not sure if it's still there. Weddo, have you seen it in your travels? Likewise, there was a rock n' roll themed cafe at Moonah (20 minutes away from Nats HQ), again, I'm not sure if it's still there. I will have look next time I'm driving through.

FWIW you've got to check out Lotus Eaters Cafe at Cygnet - awesome food and a great scenic drive. :)

Hi Bill..Glenn & Raewyn are friends from the NSW club. They have to fly out on Sunday afternoon, so could not bring their car so did not book in for the Nats. Could they come to the Friday & Saturday night dinners & how much would it cost? They are travelling with us & leaving the campervan at the caravan park.......Regards Dennis Booth (no.46)

This is all very clear on the entry form in the "additional adults" section. The cost for each additional adult is $125 and should have been paid with the entry form by the 31st of January.
Bookings for meal venues are made when entries close and it is a bit much to be asking event organisers to create additional spots for people with only weeks to go!
Bill may be able to accommodate your request but it should not be expected as automatically available.

In the past some people have just turned up at the NATS and expected to be able to get a seat at a meal night. This is simply not on and shows a complete lack of understanding of the organisation required to supply food and drinks to approximately 400 people.
