Title: Door window rubbers?
Post by: jwm on December 11, 2013, 09:09:21 PM
I'm just wondering what people use, or what can be used, for the the internal window rubber that runs along the top of the door between the 2 rails that window runs up and down in.

Not sure I've explained that very well

Do you mean the felt with the chrome trim on it that rubs each side of the glass as it goes up and down?

That's it, I don't have any internal ones on my sedan and I was looking to replace them with something. I thought maybe a molded rubber product that could be glued in place as a replacement as I dont' have the mounting clips.

They are readily available as a repro. They come with the clips attached

Isn't the Bailey Chanel the actual chanel that the window runs up and down in? I'm actually after the rubber/felt strip that runs across the top of the door horizontally at the bse of the window frame/Bailey chanel?

Alternatively, I saw a restoration procedure for these either here or on the FB/EK forum. The article used grey stick-on draftstopper from the hardware, but I know you can buy black gear through "Fitch the Rubberman" in Adelaide by the metre and in various pile depths. You'd probably save yourself over $100 if you have the old ones still.

Thanks Harv, that's the one. I used the same method to repair ones from a Cadillac.
