Title: Odd pieces gone missing
Post by: DJ on November 07, 2013, 12:30:18 PM
Hope someone out there may be able to help with a couple of things that have walked out of the shed when I wasn't looking.
1 small vertical mould under tail light. Happy to buy a pair.
2 bumper bolts that fix wrap around ends to back quarter panels.

I went to a local fastener shop and purchased some stainless bolts to attach my bumpers, not original and a little bit of work involved but worth it in my opinion. Depending on the brand you might have file off some letters/numbers, then it's just a few minutes on the bench grinder with a polishing wheel.

Thanks Stinky. I think I'll probably end up doing just that. There's a good specialty fastener shop here. Just need the size & they can match them.

And even better in real life. 4 mirror finish bumper bolts in stainless. Thanks for tips.

Pete.
The clips I thought were for dividers don't even come close to resembling the real thing.
If you still have some I'd be keen to buy a set for both strips.
I'm guessing that's 6 in total.
If you need to make them I can wait until after the silly season.
Dave.

I found the short thick ones there but not the longer 5/16" bolts for the side returns connecting to the quarter panel.
Maybe I described the item incorrectly over the phone.

I have just bought bumper bolts from earlybitz on evilbay. He has a lot of nick nack stuff.

He does have quite a lot listed. I have to say he seems to know the current market & the items that are hard to find. The specific bolts I was after were 5 times more than the same in SS. Outside the restoration world they are a common size in stainless, but granted, they are not newly chromed originals.

NES, did I say something wrong?, didn't realize mentioning earlybitz would touch a nerve.
