Title: Car hire for budget film
Post by: Not Happy Jan on September 04, 2013, 09:54:04 PM
This was sent to the Hastings Old Holdens club early in the week. If anyone is interested please give Kitty a call or reply to her email.

I'm the only one with an FC in this club and a bit too far for me ... It's in Merrylands so close to a few of you sydneyites.
So if you want your 15 minutes .... 8) ... Read on

To the Secretary,

I am looking to feature 2 x vehicles in an upcoming short film which has received funding from Screen NSW.

Our story, The Tender Dark, is set during a hot summer in 1958 suburban Australian.

As such, I am on the hunt for period accurate vehicles, i.e. no modified bodies, wheels or paint jobs.

I'm wondering if any of your club members would be interested in hiring their vehicle out to us for 1 x day use.

The owner would be welcome to either drop vehicle to set or stay on set for the day.

Our shoot dates are 19-21st September and we would require the vehicle on only one of these days.

I am looking for a Holden sedan (FE, FC or FJ) and Holden ute (FE or FC) for the shoot.

I have attached a reference package to give an indication of the model, colour and look of the vehicles we are hoping to hire.

If you wouldn't mind forwarding this email on to your club members, or if you know of someone who might be interested, we would love to speak with them.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

The Lady Needs A UTE !

Her reply to me....

Hi Nick,

Thank you for doing that.
I've had plenty of people coming back to me with Sedans, however, I'm really after a Holden ute of the period.
Would you happen to know anyone that has one, that hasn't been modified, i.e. new wheels, paint job etc. that we could use in this film??
We are 1 week out from shoot and still haven't found a ute that is suitable.

Any suggestions you could make would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

--
Kitty Taube

It's not looking good. The one ute we have in the Sydney area (an FJ) that's original and available they've apparently already rejected because it has blinkers. :-/

All the others are significantly more modified...

One could say that. One could also say that sometimes perfect is the enemy of good...
