http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,18667.0.html http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,19145.0.html I would like a ute too, but I found the taxi which was rare which stuffed that plan. Title: Re: MRJ68 FE UTE Post by: MRJ68 on July 29, 2013, 08:38:37 PM yes I have been reading them and are bloody good builds , like where you pulled the whole floorpan out and sills will do the same, so that bloody rust doesn't come back when shes all together again and spoil it .

Funny cos people get funny about trying to buy a fairly good car to start with, with the intention of doing a complete build anyway. I'd rather get the worst bumpers out there, cos that way all you need is some washing powder, some water and a little rechargeable 6 volt battery and they come up great cos no chrome stripping etc. Same as panels, who wants to strip all the old paint when rust is much easier to get rid of if you know what to do. I hope your resto goes as smooth as you hope.
Title: Re: MRJ68 FE UTE Post by: Crumpsnr on July 29, 2013, 09:46:19 PM I've seen worse cars than that donor rebuilt! Ya gonna go down the "Oh, no it's too far gone to rebuild, well maybe it'd be fun to practice some rust repairs, shit that looks pretty good might practice painting, hell, I've done so much it'd be a shame to junk it now, crap, how much to build a gearbox? seems a shame not to get a good painter to do it when I've done so much prep, hmm, might put it in a show, crap, better refinance the house, what, you're complaining about no room because of car parts? Yeah I know it was just gonna be a few months, I just didn't say which ones and when" road?
Title: Re: MRJ68 FE UTE Post by: fe350chev on July 29, 2013, 09:52:31 PM Yeah, I think I'm up to the last line of that post. There is nothing wrong with that, it's other who don't appreciate the worthiness of restoring your fave car that have a problem :D :D :D
Title: Re: MRJ68 FE UTE Post by: MRJ68 on July 30, 2013, 07:49:37 AM Most of the parts from donor will go I need the floor and chassis rails for the ute . I only showed the good side of the donor she sat on her side for 30yrs after being rolled . Anything that can be salvaged will be and if not used passed on to someone who can.
