Looking for a rust free accident free k-frame for my FC wagon, up here in Darwin. I can arrange a freight company to pick up. Has to be a good one, cheers Mark

I did see that on ebay, but was trying to find one local, to cut down of freight costs. I'm not sure how expensive it would be to get that one to me in Darwin. 04178445678 if you don't move it on ebay, cheers Mark

Me thinks you are going to struggle to find many rust free subframes for sale in Australia let alone in Darwin.

They are easier than u think to repair, just depends on where the rust is. None of them are rust free underneath  :P

So if you think you have a good subframe in the shed would you sand blast it or acid dip it to find out how good it really is? And what would it cost to do it.

What happens if u can't get all the acid out? Does it not continue to eat the frame out. The only thing I would do with any sort of dip would be electrolysis with washing powder, but still u have the problem of how u dry, coat and seal the inner parts before they rust again straight after treatment. A dip in a neutraliser than holes drilled where a second dip is done so that the dip protectants gets right into any crevices. If you were serious about restoring a rust free one or should I day preserving one, the worst thing you could do is do anything to it. Probably get it scanned if ya wanna know what ya got.

Hi all, thanks for the responses, mine is pretty well rust free but been in a rh front bingle. The radiator support panel/outrigger mounting point has been poorly replaced before and it looks like someone threw it at it!!. Its probably repairable, but I thought I would put the feelers out to see if I could get one as a better starting point. I am trying to find a local one if possible. In my experience up here I would have more chance of finding one here more than south. If not, its going on the welding bench for modifications. I have a couple of leads from this forum and will probably go down that path if I cannot source one locally in the next month, cheers Mark
