G'day all anyone know of somewhere i can get my fuel gauge recalibrated in the in the Ipswich or S.E.. Qld. area.

Mine actually worked for the first time on Tuesday and seems to be all good. He needs both the gauge and the sender unit.

I will have to convert mine to read the Bommodore one

Yep ..... the gauge and the sender unit need to be matched.

No idea NES, a Techo will have to answer that one.

Think 8ohms nemesis did mine in newcastle a few weeks ago as I purchased an aftermarket vdo sender fully adjustable for my new tank.

I always found the best way to calibrate your fuel gauge was  to see where the needle is when you run out then try to remember that spot.

Pedro you can retro fit a VL commodore guage in the FC housing Smithy did his for his sedan  ;D ;D.....FC427.....

Thanks guys, wonder why they need mine if the Commodores are a set Ohm rating, might have to check out the price of a second hand one from the wreckers as i can't pull mine out of the tank while she's at the painters, Not too keen on the idea of changing anything in the dash Mark did they look similar, (plus i didn't keep the Dunnydore one)

Pedro they appear to be different. I tried a different sensor and it would not work. The gauge only worked with the calibrated sensor. To make things easy Holden also appeared to change part suppliers readily in this area hence the slight differences in sensors.

Hi guys, Im running the original guage. Sent the commodore sender to howard instruments and they changed the resistance of the sender to suit FC holden. Knew exactly what to do. cost me $105 inc back in 2008. Their number if any one is interestaed is 03 9457 4755. You can also get your temp senders there.
They are in Heidelberg Vic.

Pedro, I think Jack (fc-fer-me) used a commodore fuel gauge in the original FC housing...  have a look at page 8 'my new project' in 'completed cars'.

I'm sure he'd send you a close-up pic if you're interested. From memory, it didn't look out-of-place when I drove the car.... (but then again, I was so impressed with the brakes and handling that I didn't take much notice of the dash  :))

I did the same as Brett F
I'm using the in tank commodore fuel pump and sender so it was easier to have the sender unit changed because I wanted to retain the original gauge and it apppears to work really well

I think I did the opposite on my vauxhall where I used a fefc tank and grafted a commadore sender unit into the tank the problem then becomes twofold as without swirlpot or baffle, not only is there a airlock problem I solved with an external pump and huge nissan filter placed strategicly behind it ,but the guage constantly steps up and down because of the commadores 6 [only]contact points on the sender unit.Solved the problem on the second build with a custom tank.

Ahh i get it now they modify the sender not the gauge, I'll just have to wait till i get the old girl home before i can get it out then i'll drop it in to where Wayne mentioned at Nerang.
