How deep does the engraving go?
I had a set of centre caps machined up years ago with blank centres and was thinking of getting stickers made, if you can engrave deep enough (1-2mm?) I could paint them instead.

This was one we did for the engravers ute just covered his tow bar.

We have learnt a lot more since this note the paint is slightlly scuffed from cleaning up whilst still a bit wet.

have it all sussed now..

Pete, I think you will find that the logo is under copyright, this is why Olden1 had to stop making the grill emblem inserts for the FC grill badge.

Yeah understand..

Funnily enough it was a sample logo that came with the machine.

I didnt plan on doing any more it was just to see if it worked.

BTW, Rare Spares holds the current copyright for the NASCO logo.

A couple of us from the VIC Club were there today and they had their copyright registration for "NASCO" in the front office reception right beside the RSP Business registration so I think they take copyright seriously as well....

There you go i didnt know about the nasco logo.

Dont really care either the amount of NASCO stuff on ebay thats knocked off im sure im the least of their worries
Mines modified for the waterjet so therefore its more than 10 percent different so it doesnt breach copyright..

Thats what happened when a competitor copied one of my products that has a patent any more than 10 percent they cant do anything.

Hi Pete, can you give me some info on your exhaust hangers please? I am after some to suit a 2.5 inch system. Do they bolt together or how are they attached to the pipe. My system has flanges on the ends of each section of pipe.

Thanks Keith.

I reckon the badges just finish a resto off cant wait to see it fitted.

As i i said to Keith my badge was fitted with the 2 small angle clips to retain the badge as the original tiny pins were broken they may need a tickle as im sure the thickness varies for the badges this was a good length for mine so should work fine.

Hi Pete. Just a suggestion, but obviously time is a factor, but with some of the items, it would be good to have a small pic within the same catalogue of the piece fitted in a car. Some of the parts like the gauge one are things people would buy if they could see it in a car. So if you have some more pics of them in cars can you get some ppl to post them up. Thanks.

Just one more thing. Im wondering if you have made an insert for the spring/shocks tower where the springs seat. If you haven't I was wondering if you could. I would like to put some in my standard front end. Would need to be a hard but absorbing material perhaps like nolathane. The Bosch gaskets must multi fit a few different makes of Bosch headlight buckets. Not all the cutouts are needed for the FE FC buckets.

Lucas gaskets are totally different

Title: Re: RE Catalouge of FE FC parts

Maybe hilux ?
My logic in that is they are the most gutless car i have ever driven so surelly that compressor turns pretty easy.
And its a single v belt.
It would have to be setup to use the rares style harmonic balancer with a v belt off the front of the 3 puller holes in the balancer.

Sounds good to me Pete. Do you know of a pulley as well?
Cheers,
Graham

The aftermarket grey motor balancers can use a GMH red motor twin v-belt pulley. These will bolt to the aftermarket grey motor harmonic balancer using the three “remover/puller” holes ((3/8-24UNF on a 213/16” (71.44mm) PCD). Be wary though that GMH pulleys are two different groove sizes on the one hub. For example, one groove is 5.25” diameter, the other 5.10” (the other pulley I have is 5.23” and 5.09”). Doesn’t sound like much (and hard to see by eye unless you are looking for it), but it means you can't use them as twin v-drives (two belts driving say a supercharger). They are however perfectly fine for driving two different units (eg an AC compressor and a power steering pump).

Another option is to use an alluminium pulley from a Chev (eBay special). The bad thing about using Chev pulleys though is that the internal bore is much larger than the grey motor crankshaft (the Chev is 1.1” versus the 1” grey motor crank). This means it can be quite hard to centralise the Chev pulley onto the grey motor crank. I tried using one of the harmonic balancers as a template, and even taking quite some care could not get the three holes drilled perfectly concentrically. If using the Chev pulley it is recommended to either get a hub centric ring made up (a washer 1” ID and 1.1” OD), or to have the three mounting holes professionally drilled by a machine shop (3/8-24UNF on a 213/16” (71.44mm) PCD). Note when buying a Chev pulley that you will typically want one that lies very close to the harmonic balancer (rather than the “long water pump” type that stick out further). A Speedmaster PCE239.1008 item is not a bad choice (http://store.speedmaster79.com/), and is 5.457” diameter.

Cheers,
Harv

The red motor pulleys are not that uncommon. They appear on eBay every now and then.

I've got two of the things at home. Was going to use to drive Normans, but can't as the grooves are not identical diameter. Naturally, I only found this out after buying two, stripping, priming and epoxy enamelling  ::). I think they cost me $80 a pop. Happy to sell one (or both) if you want one.

Cheers,
Harv

G'day Pete,

There seems to be a shortage of FE-EK ute spare wheel clamps in the market, with prices going silly on eBay. I think I can borrow an original NOS one through the FB/EK forum - would you be interested in making a run of these please?

Thought I'd get my order in early for one of these commercial spare wheel clamps Pete. Accolades to Andrew for putting the pressure on.
Seriously though there should be pretty serious demand for these.
Cheers

Hi Guys

I created a website with some of my parts.
Ebay is ripping me off and Facebook is hard to keep a track of.
Let me know your thoughts or any changes.

That’s excellent Pete, can I suggest a hard mail out to all the associated car clubs. This can then be circulated at meetings (when these actually are allowed again) and can be included in newsletters for the members to read.
I have been active over many years in getting parts remanufactured for FE and FC Vehicles but you do an even better job with these parts because you have the ability to make them yourself.
I wish you every success and you have my support in your endeavour

Ken

Great list Pete.

Was thinking about this the other day. A little OT, but was hunting down fuel leaks in an RB30 motor. The injector holder clamps had cracked, and the injectors were loose. Suprisingly, no-one makes reproduction RB30 injector holders. Tried hunting down a set, and got desperate. Thought I might have had to give you a call and see if you could make some (wondered if they were the same as RB26). Managed to finally find some.

Cheers,
Harv

Thanks ken.
This is my retirement plan to get set up doing parts and get my enthusiasm back to work on cars.
Work has been taking all my time.
