Title: Temperature Sender
Post by: Rod on May 18, 2013, 11:15:21 AM
Hi All, I have had a look around and can't find the answer specifically. I have three temp senders in my posession. One is a 217°F ,one is a a 226 F, while the last one is a 239F. I need to replace a faulty one. Which one should i use? Is a standard grey running a 7lb radiator cap.

Hi Rod,
The manual section 12F says
"Tell Tale" Assembly-
Temperature, Glows when    ..   ..  ..  Engine Temperature reaches 217 degrees F. + - 5 degrees F.

The 217 F switch is fitted to fx - FE up to eng L388857 which had the 4 lb cap. When the 7 lb cap was fitted the switch changed to the 226 F one.

Thanks Stewy and Ken,

After viewing your post Stwey I looked at the manual and it confirmed what Ken said. Based on this I guess there wouldn't be a problem using a 217F. It would just mean the idiot light would come on earlier. Given that greys should run at about 180F would my assumption be sound?

Thanks again fella's.
