Title: front door wind/rain deflector
Post by: Sparkie on March 08, 2013, 06:08:31 PM
hi all,am slowly getting my fc together.Have come across the metal plates that fit in upper front part of front doors above vent windows .My question is do you blokes refit these in a resto or leave them out as for me i dont think it is needed and probably never drive it when raining [if thats what they are for]Had a purple FC 42 yrs ago and cant remember[lol]and old photos dont show clearly. Also the FC i have now i have decided to paint 3 colours due to extended rear fins [stainless extensions],your opinions on that would be appreciated than :-\ks Gary

I have found that if they are not put back in then the quarter windows can pull in to tight and not fit well.

This can be overcome of course by inserting a piece of metal in place so that gaps are right.
On a stockie I think they should be left in place, but On a custom it's a completely different matter. Leaving the drip guards off does clean up the door lines. I didn't have them on my last FE. This is how I  know the quarter vents don't fit right.

If you put deflectors on a modified car it looks too old fashioned (only my opinion)
If you want them they look okay chromed
