Title: Exhaust.. Mild or stainless ?
Post by: surferboy on February 01, 2013, 08:15:37 PM
Just looking for opinions

The wagon is due for a replacement exhaust system
it has a 2" rusty steel one at the moment
from the extractors attached to the 202 motor to the chrome tip under the rear bumper

Is there a big advantage to stainless ?

Quoted $300 for mild and $500 for stainless (with a triflow(?) muffler for slightly sporty sound or baffled muffler for quiet... I prefer quiet)

Is the $200 difference worth it ?

Generally it is not worth the change to stainless, unless you are really close to the beach. Stainless gives extra long life but a new steel exhaust will last a long time on a fairly regularly used vehicle.

or if you are doing short trips the condensation builds up and rusts things out ?

my choice stainless but i own a sheetmetal shop and like shiny. (and i do it myself)
