Title: My new project 59 FC ute Post by: Mark L on October 06, 2012, 03:53:14 PM Hi All
Firstly, a short introduction. I’m a 50 year old who still thinks he is still in his early 30’s. I live in outer western Sydney and like everyone on this site, I find the FC Holden a very appealing car. I have been hovering around this site for well over a year now, reading, learning and getting a general understanding of the task ahead of me. I liked it so much I joined the NSW car club. I suppose for you long term members you must hear this a lot but I will say it again anyway. This site is extremely beneficial to newbie’s like me. The challenge ahead of me is somewhat reduced by the learning’s I have already gained from the members here who seem ready to offer advice and encouragement to those who are just beginning the process of restoration. I hope to be in a position where I can contribute to other newbie’s in the future. I recently purchased a 1959 FC ute from a guy in northern Victoria. Overall there is some rust in the floor pans and a couple of guards but the rest of the vehicle is not too bad. The car was sitting idle since 1985 when last registered in some guys shed. Typically it had about 3” of red dust under the tray, in the rear guards and in the cab along with dozens of mud wasp nests. I have been in the parts gathering stage since I purchased the car and now feel that I have enough to commence. I have also sold and purchased a few things from people on this forum which has really helped. I will add some pictures to give you some idea of where I am up to once I master that task. Realistically I expect this to be a 3 to 4 year project (or close to). I am thinking a Holden red motor with an auto box so my wife can also enjoy the ride. I will post more pictures as I progress. You are at home here with your purchase, can't wait to see your ride. My wife is the same and wanted a bench seat column shift with Aircon. 5L V8 is what I am doing. Heaps of straight and bent 6's here too. Cheers, Marc Title: Re: My new project 59 FC ute Post by: Mark L on October 06, 2012, 09:16:53 PM Hopefully this works :-\

Looks like it has rust in all the usual spots. A good starting point all the same. Looking forward to regular progress updates.
