Title: Hubcaps
Post by: FCrob on August 16, 2012, 04:20:16 PM
Guys, going through some boxes of parts and found a few hubcaps. Some are the normal steel chrome type but there are three that appear to be aluminium.
My question is where the aluminum ones manufactured for any particular model  fe fc special or standard models or is it a case of the aluminium was more expensive so they remade in steel to reduce costs?

G'day Rob,

If they have the Lion in the triangle on them they would be stainless steel

they dent easier than the steel ones but arn't as prone to rust

I have a set of 4 NOS Alluminium caps here with no Lion, these I'm told were made for caravans

FE hubcaps are stainless steel, FC ones are chrome steel. As Gary said, the stainless ones tend to be more easily dented, but they last forever.
