Hi,
Have you checked the cowl vent drain tube?
Never seen a 54 FE :o

Hi,
As the FE only came out between 56-58 i would suggest your car would fall somewhere in these dates. The cowl vent has a gutter which runs just inside the cowl vent rubber, this is designed to take any water that get past the rubber. This gutter often rusts out and hence the water comes straight into the cabin area, or as Ace said the drain tube which you can locate under the bonnet near the wiper motor.
Cheers,
Graham

Hi

The other spot the water could be coming from is the holes that locate your bonnet lacing and also their is a body join up their' have a look up their and if you may see light coming through the join the sealer may be cracked. my suggestion is to check and reseal these areas if it not your drain tube. I would and have check this area anyway.

Is your cowl vent rubber seal perished or not sealing as the water may let water leak over the top of it.

Kind regards

Julius

Hi Fe
The best way to find the leak is lay on the floor (some how) and with a torch stick your head under the dash while somebody puts a hose on the area in question from the outside. Than follow the drips from your forehead to the leak.
It works for me.

could be anywhere under the pins of the weather strip under thr bonnet.
thru where the insulation clips to the firewall.
around the window
around the mudguard bolts thru the pillar

take your pick
hose and torch sound like    a plan

I second that , fc hoon ... Thought it was the cowl but was the weatherstrip holes all along ...silicon fixed the drips ... the hose , torch and wet forehead method worked for me too !!

Interesting.  I have a few drips hitting the floor on both sides.  They are coming through the windscreen wiper mounts.  I sealed them when I installed them.  I may have been a little lean with the sealant.  Have not checked it out yet.  I assume there are no seals under these.  I saw none when I pulled it apart.

There are supposed to be seals under the wiper bases.
