Title: engineer/inspector
Post by: pedro on April 19, 2012, 08:27:11 AM
Would anyone know of any engineers/inspectors in the Boonah/Beaudesert/Ipswich/ south Brisbane area, the old girl is ready to go but I spent about an hour on the net yesterday and couldn't find any, some interesting reading re-modifications on the dept. of transport site though.

G'day Pete, Thanks I presume you mean Steve at Geben motors, he's a top bloke if anybody in that area needs anything done, when we had the business working on old Holdens I always took them to him for mod plate inspections but I think he is limited to what he can approve, I'm going to ride over and see him tomorrow as I have to take Mez to Brissy today.

Never heard of it either, but i'll find it if i have to, I got back from Brissy early enough to go for a scoot over to see Steve today and I got the number for a bloke who does inspections in this area, I'll give him a ring in the morning.

Thanks just just40 looks like I'm going to be heading over that way, What a rigmarole, rang the bloke Steve told me about and he only did front ends but gave me the number of another guy who couldn't help but gave me another number that didn't answer so I rang Ozrods who are going to get back to me today some time.

Just on this topic. My closest inspector under the vic vass system is over 2 hours away. So i wrote a letter to the minister and complained. And guess what...I got a politicians answer. About 2 pages long that didn't answer my question lol.

Just hi Jacking the thread a little here, How much are you expecting to pay for an engineer?

How much have guys here been charged for engineering a V6?

Reason I ask is that I was quoted 2grand to get mine done when I am the one who went to them with a 5 page essay on EXACTLY how I would do everything and was told "wow your research and preparation is awesome".
I understand they have the experience and industry knowledge and have to pay for the licencing and overheads of the business etc etc. I will take all the photo's and detail everything in the attempt to only roll in for approval first go to reduce workload (and costing to me).
      But really, 2 grand ???

:o, I hope it's not going to be that much or the paint will have to wait a bit longer.

Finally found an engineer, rode up to Brissy today and to see Ozrods face to face as they didn't ring me back last week, got the ph.no.for their engineer but he was even further away from here, so I dropped in and saw a mate in Beenleigh who put me on to Car-pliance, the bloke had a look at the photos of what I had done and said he thought I had done a good job and said he would pass the old girl no worries ;D ;D, I just have to take it in for a final inspection once she's ready for rego. WOOHOO  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hope the pic is big enough.    Pedro
