Title: Mallory dual point distributor
Post by: pearo on April 02, 2012, 08:06:11 PM
I am having trouble with my red motor I have replaced the fuel pump fuel filter and have put a new 2barrel   Holley carb on to replace the old one. These parts have made a big difference but I still have the original problem. After the engine has been running (driving) for a while it coughs and splutters then dies and won't restart until everything has cooled down. It is running an electronic Holden distributor. Now, I have a brand new Mallory dual point dissy which I have had for years. My problem is I have never used or set up one of these so I am after some advice on how to set it up or should I buy another electronic one. The thing is the only new electronic distributors are not Bosch and have heard some are better than others (lucky dip). Anyway I'd like to hear what you blokes think.

Did you replace the module in the distributor - this is a pretty common source of trouble in electronic dissys.

Thanks for your quick reply Ken. No I haven't replaced the module, can you still buy them and are they easy to replace?

Rob,

Go with Ken's advice ;) and unless you know your way around points dissy's leave the dual point Mallory for the nostalgia buffs. ;D
