Title: Mounting fender Mirrors
Post by: FC0058 on March 30, 2012, 03:59:06 PM
Hi All

Hopefully some one can answer this question before I start drilling holes in my front guards.

I have a set of WIBROC fender mirrors, I have searched the site looking for instruction / measurements for fender placement. Alex has various mirrors in the accessories thread all the mounting plates are similar or the same as mine but there are no instructions.

Do I mount them in the middle, centre top of guard or as far forward as I can at the end of the peak line were it flattens out ? Would like to mount them before departing for the Nat's, I drive my car almost daily so no side mirrors has become a little bit of a hazard since moving to Adelaide.

Cheers Jim

Yep you've got it pretty much right - on the centre line just after it flattens out - depending on your height you may have to move them forward a little bit.

Hey Jim
Could you post a photo of the mirrors once they are mounted.

Thanks Ken, I thought to myself if anyone answers in quicktime it will be Ken.

Nick once I have measured, marked, measured again and just to be sure I will tape in spot, then I will drill and fit. Must say am a little nervous that I will get it wrong and have 2 hole in each guard. Hmmmm must bit the bullet and just do it.

Ok I am off the the garage to test fit. Whatch this space.

Cheers Jim

Ok

I have measured marked, re-measured, asked she who must be obeyed, on advise from the boss we moved them forward. They now sit 2/3 of the way down the guard.

Sitting in the driverside they are both easy to see and dont seem to be to far away. Having some issues under the fluro finding centre so do not plan on final mounting untill I get some natural light in the morning.

Thoughts ?

I would suggest just a little further forward - have a look at Alex's feature article number 46 - it is a 1959 article showing an FC fitted with guard mirrors.

looking good Jim.
Have you taped the roof ready for a tennis cap (visor)?
