Title: central locking
Post by: freddyc on March 14, 2012, 08:33:49 AM
Candy wants this, has anybody fitted a kit? if so what brand? she is looking at one from autobarn. I don't think it will have the push/pull power. I have seen the kits on ebay.

I used the central locking from the VT mate, with an attachment to the standard FE locks... they worked fine, but I am not sure of the size of the solenoids use in the VT to compare to the aftermarket kits sorry.

I've used cheap kits in the past 3 of my builds.. they all work fine, the solenoids are easily strong enough.  You simply mount the solenoid and attach them to the lock pushrod.

I've used cheap kits from jay car, ebay and a "better" one from another specialist aftermarket Aust retailer....  the one I preferred was the jay car one for the remote... it was probably the most expensive.  some kits are central no remote, others include remote.

I like the the autobarn ones that are around $70 as they are normal have a higher force/pounds rating
Then I just buy one of there cheep ass alarm system that do central locking
And it's all sorted
That what you also get an alarm, all up just under $200

Another option is rhino alarm and locks from dicksmith
Last time I used them was around 04/05 and it was around 80-100 all up
I thought it was a very good system
